The Haitian government has announced an ambitious plan to strengthen national security, mobilizing a budget of 31 billion gourdes as part of the 2024-2025 rectifying budget. This amount includes significant investments for the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H), aimed at combating the country’s growing insecurity.
Key investments:
- 7 billion gourdes are allocated to the acquisition of strategic equipment for the PNH.
- 4.4 billion gourdes are earmarked for the modernization and operational deployment of the FAd’H.
- 12 million dollars have already been invested in March 2025 for the purchase of state-of-the-art weaponry and equipment.
Objectives:
The government aims to restore public order, optimize law enforcement capabilities and ensure the protection of citizens from the threat of armed gangs. This initiative reflects the State’s firm determination not to cede any ground in the fight against insecurity.
