Port-au-Prince, April 9, 2025 – The Haitian government was deeply saddened to learn of the appalling tragedy that struck the Jet Set discotheque in Santo Domingo on the night of April 7-8, taking so many innocent lives and plunging the Dominican Republic into mourning.
Today, Haiti’s tears mingle with those of its Dominican sister. On behalf of the entire Haitian nation, and on his own behalf, the Prime Minister expresses his deep sorrow at this cruel loss. Our hearts beat in unison with those of devastated families, bruised friends, and an entire nation stricken by grief.
We bow, silent and contemplative, before the glow of lives snatched too soon. In the darkness of this ordeal, Haiti is reaching out to the Dominican Republic, as it always has and as it always will. For our two peoples, united by a common history, a vibrant culture and a shared geography, form a single soul in the face of adversity.
In these dark hours, the Haitian Government reaffirms its commitment to walk side by side with the Dominican Republic, offering its unreserved support and comfort as we journey together through this unspeakable pain.
