Communicator Santiago Matías, known as “Alofoke“, denounced that the military launched tear gas bombs and used pressurized water jets against demonstrators in Friusa, Punta Cana, during a peaceful march called by the nationalist movement Antigua Orden Dominicana. The demonstration sought to protest against the illegal migration of Haitians in the Dominican Republic.
Matias stated that the demonstrators were assaulted without prior provocation, which he considers an unconscionable response by the authorities. “They attacked us with tear gas bombs, they used a pressurized water truck, simply because Dominicans wanted to walk on Dominican soil,” he said. In addition, he reiterated that the struggle will continue and that this action marks the beginning of a new stage in the defense of national sovereignty.
The march, which had as its final objective to reach the El Hoyo de Friusa sector, was interrupted before its conclusion, generating tension and discontent among the participants, who accuse the government of not taking effective measures against illegal immigration.
