As part of its mission to modernize the nation’s road infrastructure, the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) has undertaken rehabilitation work on Route Nationale no 4 (RN4), also known as Route de l’Amitié. This strategic road links Carrefour Dufort, in the commune of Léogâne, to the city of Jacmel.
This development project, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), will extend over a period of twelve (12) months. It covers a 45-kilometre stretch of road, with an average width of 6.50 metres. The work, awarded to V&F Construction, represents a major step forward in strengthening connectivity between two major urban centers in the South-East and West Departments.
The main work planned includes
- Upgrading the existing roadway platform;
- Repair and reinforcement of the asphalt concrete wearing course (BB);
- Rehabilitation of engineering structures, drainage and sewerage systems, including cleaning of ditches and outlets, and rectification of river beds;
This initiative is part of the MTPTC’s overall strategy to make mobility and road safety national priorities.
