On March 17, 2025, the Prime Minister of Haiti, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, took part in the ceremony marking the 19th anniversary of the Inspection Générale des Finances (IGF) at the Hôtel Karibe in Port-au-Prince. This celebration, under the theme “Towards a double decade of control, commitment and the fight against corruption for healthier public management”, brought together eminent personalities, including the President of the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Disputes (CSCCA), representatives of the Interinstitutional Anti-Corruption Task Force, as well as institutional partners and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Commitment to transparency
Alix Didier Fils-Aimé reaffirmed his commitment to transparent and efficient public management. He stressed that “no finance deserves the epithet of public without inspection, without transparent and efficient governance”. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of modernizing the management of public resources, which is essential for the country’s development.
Support for the IGF and the Anti-Corruption Task Force
The Prime Minister praised the IGF’s crucial role in controlling public finances and fighting corruption. He also praised the initiative of the inter-institutional anti-corruption Task Force, which brings together five partner institutions (MEF, ULCC, CNMP, UCREF and PNH via BAFE), describing the alliance as “significant progress” in the fight against corruption.
Tribute to finance inspectors
In closing his speech, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé paid tribute to finance inspectors and IGF executives for their daily contribution to more sound and efficient public management. He reiterated his support for the actions of the IGF and its partner institutions in their mission for transparent and honest public management.
Context
Alix Didier Fils-Aimé was appointed Prime Minister on November 10, 2024, following the dismissal of Garry Conille. He formed an enlarged government with 18 ministers and a secretary of state, against a backdrop of political and economic turbulence in Haiti. His government was charged with tackling major challenges, including combating insecurity, managing the food and economic crisis, and preparing for the upcoming elections.
