Leslie Voltaire, President of Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council, has canceled his planned “official trip” to Guadeloupe, according to reports from Guadeloupe 1ère.

Voltaire was to have been the head of a delegation that included ministers, but the visit was cancelled without further details. This development comes amid ongoing challenges in Haiti, including political instability, allegations of corruption within the Council, and escalating gang violence.

Voltaire recently assumed leadership of the Council in October 2024, succeeding Edgard Leblanc Fils amid controversy over unresolved corruption allegations against other Council members. His administration is tasked with stabilizing the country and organizing general elections by February 2026.
