Conseiller-Président H.E.M. Laurent Saint-CYR is currently attending the 48th Conference of CARICOM Heads of State and Government, taking place in Barbados from February 19 to 21, 2025.

The event brings together the region’s leaders to address key issues such as security, climate change, free movement of people and regional integration.

Haiti’s commitment
At the conference, Haiti reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation. Laurent Saint-CYR, heading an official delegation, stressed the importance of defending the interests of Haitian citizens on the Caribbean scene. Haiti’s participation is crucial, particularly in view of the economic and security challenges currently facing the country.

Conference themes
Discussions will focus on several key themes:

Regional security: Assessment of threats and strategies to ensure security in the region.

Climate change: Approaches to mitigating the impacts of climate change on Caribbean states.

Economic integration: Promoting free movement and trade between member countries.

The meeting is also marked by the official integration of Martinique as an associate member of CARICOM, opening up new opportunities to strengthen economic and cultural exchanges in the region.

The conference represents an essential platform for discussing common challenges and forging a collective response to current crises, while strengthening ties between Caribbean nations.
