A teacher and travel enthusiast, she shared her concerns about an issue close to her heart: the lack of appreciation for Haitian history and identity, a challenge that particularly affects the Haitian diaspora.
Commitment to Haitian culture
For several years, Emily has been actively involved in promoting the Creole language and history of Haiti. Through her classes and interactions with audiences around the world, she strives to share Haiti’s cultural heritage. Her goal is to raise awareness of the importance of preserving these essential elements of Haitian national identity.
An inspiring career
Emily left Haiti in 2005 at the age of 12 to settle in Florida with her family, fleeing socio-political unrest. Three years after arriving in the United States, she had the opportunity to participate in the Extend Student program, which allowed her to live in Italy for a year. She recounts: “I made this decision in memory of my father, even though my aunts and uncles didn’t want me to leave.

My mother, on the other hand, supported my decision from the beginning, and Italy was one of my best experiences.
Emily Cadet continues to be an important voice for Haitian culture, inspiring others to recognize and celebrate their heritage.
